CLET ABRAHAM

Clet Abraham
Born in 1966 in Brittany
Lives and works in Florence
Clet Abraham studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes

Since the early 2000s, Clet Abraham has been practicing his own form of street art, riding around cities on his bike and sticking stickers on road signs to distort their messages. He works all over the world, particularly in Europe, Japan, and the United States. His little black figure, which has become a symbol of rebellion against authority and a “barometer of democracy” in his own words, mainly questions issues of widespread surveillance and prohibition.

Clet Abraham said: “The street is a way of reclaiming an audience that is otherwise filtered by public and commercial institutions, governments, or galleries. It is therefore a way of freeing oneself from the constraints of these structures. Personally, I see street art as a form of protest art. Its wild side is fundamental to me and perhaps its raison d'être.”
