Laura Garcia Karras
Born in 1988 in Les Lilas
Lives and works in Paris
Laura Garcia Karras studied at La Cambre in Brussels and then at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, graduating in 2015.
Laura Garcia Karras creates paintings that lie between figuration and abstraction, with nature as their main theme. She explores plant motifs, mainly flowers, to create an explosion of colors and transcend their symbolism, as part of a poetic and philosophical reflection. Her oil paintings are made up of multiple layers; their creative process thus reflects her questions about time, memory, metamorphosis, and rebirth. She was the winner of the Crédit Agricole Foundation Competition and the Antoine Marin Prize in 2018, and in 2024 the Mo.Co in Montpellier dedicated a solo exhibition to her.
Laura Garcia Karras said: “Painting is a kind of witchcraft that doesn't fix everything, but makes it beautiful.”
