Frédéric Poincelet studied graphic design.
Frédéric Poincelet is a comic book author, illustrator, poet, writer, and publisher. He creates comic books and also works as a graphic designer in publishing. He depicts human figures, animals, landscapes, plants, and architecture. His compositions are often inspired by photographs, which he deconstructs in order to forget them and add other elements. They are filled with subtle colors, applied with ink wash. In 2014, with a group of artists, he created Frédéric magazine to showcase drawing as an autonomous practice distinct from any other art form. He has produced illustrated reports for Bang! and Beaux-Arts Magazine, for the daily newspaper Libération, and illustrations for Psychologies magazine. As an artist, he develops his drawing practice and exhibits regularly.
Frédéric Poncelet said: “What drives me first and foremost is drawing in all its forms and possibilities. It has always been a quest (...), a genuine curiosity and a real need to nourish myself intellectually, to fill myself with images and to try to understand all the possibilities of drawing.”
