Hugues Micol studied at the École Estienne in Paris
Hugues Micol, author of some thirty albums, is a comic book artist who collaborates with various authors. He creates drawings in black and white or in bold flat colors, saturating the space of the pages or panels. He approaches themes such as westerns, road movies, crime novels, science fiction, and fantasy in his own pop, rock, and sometimes gothic style. His interest in art history, both ancient and contemporary, as well as cinema and theater, is reflected in his creations. He won the 2017 Töpferr Prize.
Hugues Micol said: “If you're going to do comics, you might as well go for it, be free and enjoy this space of absolute freedom. I always need a kind of slightly ridiculous twist.”
