(Paris,1924 - 2018)
Jacques Monory is one of the leading artist of the Figuration Narrative movement. In 1968, he began the Meurtres Serie, a serie of works, often cut into several parts like film sequences. His figures are set against a unified background, saturated by a dominant color, usually blue. In his paintings, he stages himself and/or the people around him as if in a diary. In these “thriller scenarios”, he often takes a critical look at society. The FHEL Landerneau in Brittany devoted a major retrospective to his work.
