Born in 1956 in Wrexham, Wales
Lives and works in Paris in the South of France
After living and working in Ireland, the United States and Berlin, James Rielly returned to London and joined the Young British Artists movement, championed by the Saatchi brothers. In 1997, he took part in the Sensation exhibition, which brought them international recognition. His colorful paintings are like moments in a story, like a freezed frame. He questions childhood, the passage of time, identity, while playing with the absurd, the cruel and the strange.
