Lives and works in Marseille
Gilles Barbier, nominated for the Prix Marcel Duchamp, is one of the fonders of La Friche de la Belle de Mai in Marseille. Known for his monumental installations, he playfully explores our codes of representation and their possibilities. He often draws his inspiration from the world of science fiction and comics, the speech bubble becoming a constant element of his work. He has created a family of wax clones in his own image, offering a meditation on questions of body and identity.
