Brecht Evens is a comic book author and illustrator, as well as a painter. His work is almost pictorial in nature. It is characterized by the use of bright colors and transparency effects. He fills the space on his pages with teeming characters, animals, and architecture, represented at different scales and in distorted perspectives. He regularly collaborates with the fashion and animated film industries and in 2014 created the Louis Vuitton Travel Book on Paris. He has created murals in Antwerp and Brussels and a large world map of vocal techniques for the Philharmonie de Paris. He received the Willy Vandersteen Prize in 2010, the Prix de l'Audace at the Angoulême Festival in 2011, and the Special Jury Prize at the Angoulême Festival in 2019.
Brecht Evens said: “With drawing, you can do lots of things, intentionally or not. Thanks to it, you can put the reader into a state of delirious interpretation.”
