Fabien Verschaere is a painter, illustrator, installation and performance artist, and animator. He has developed a unique body of work, a universe populated by hybrid creatures, monsters and chimeras, born of his imagination. His paintings are inspired by fairy tales, mythology, art history and comic books, as well as his travels around the world. He populates his worlds with imaginary characters, skeletons, vanities, clowns, princesses, etc. He has exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Mac in Lyon, the Force de l'Art, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Saint Etienne and the CCCOD in Tours.
Fabien Verschaere said, ‘I am fascinated by the way the body is represented around the world today. Our physical bodies can symbolise one thing in Africa, another in Europe, and embody a totally different concept in Australia.'
