Enki Bilal is a writer, director and illustrator
recognized as one of the masters of contemporary
comic books. Awarded the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême in 1987
for his entire career, he creates dystopian and futuristic universes
in which he explores the human condition, its suffering and moral dilemmas.
He has a unique, highly expressive graphic style.
A painter in his own right, he exhibits regularly, notably in
cultural institutions such as the Musée de
l'Homme in Paris in 2022 or the Fundazione Cini in Venise during the 2015 and 2017 Biennale. In 2021, the FHEL in Landerneau devoted a retrospective to his work, which attracted 150,000 visitors.
